Surgical Face Masks and General-Use Masks

Ags  Labs offers a comprehensive set of tests for surgical face masks and general-use medical masks. These tests are essential to ensuring performance properties are validated to support marketing label claims and to classify these mask types.

For CE marking submissions, additional tests may be required depending on label claims.

Mask tests

Face mask tests for ASTM2100;

  • Bacterial or Viral Filtration Efficiency(BFE/VFE)
  • Differential Pressure
  • The Delta P test is performed to determine the breathability of masks by measuring the differential air pressure on either side of the test article using a manometer, at a constant flow rate of 8 L/min.
  • Flammability test
  • Particle filtration efficiency: Latex particle challenge
  • Synthetic blood fluid penetration resistance for face masks
  • Maintain quality system,which meets the requirements of ISO ( IEC 17025 : 2005 )

Additional tests to consider for surgical face masks:

  • Biocompatibility

Sample Specifications

  • BFE110 : Minimum of 5 samples recommended; separate samples needed for BFE and delta p. Each sample must be 4 X 4 inches (10 x 10 cm) flat sheet or full face mask.
  • FTS101 : Minimum of 14 replicate samples
  • PFE115 : Price per Sample. Minimum 5 samples recommended; each sample must be 5 x 5 inches (12 x 12 cm) minimum
  • SBP210 : 32 masks are required for each pressure
